Short answer: buy the Salem if you want the cheapest Almost Heaven 2-person barrel and the bigger included heater. Buy the Vienna if you want a covered porch with two outside benches at the door and don’t mind paying about $746 more for it. This is a specs-based comparison using Almost Heaven’s and Select Saunas’ published product pages on Oct 9, 2026. We haven’t tested either sauna ourselves.

Pick the Salem if…
You want the least expensive way into an Almost Heaven barrel. You get nearly the same bench length as the Vienna, the shallowest footprint of the two (47" deep), and a 6kW Harvia KIP heater instead of 4.5kW. Tradeoffs: there’s no covered spot at the door to sit and cool off, and it’s dial controls, not Wi-Fi.
Pick the Vienna if…
You like the idea of stepping out under a small canopy and sitting on one of the two exterior benches between rounds, or keeping towels and water dry by the door. The porch takes one foot of the barrel, so the room inside is about the same size as the Salem’s. Tradeoffs: it costs about $746 more, it’s 13" deeper on your base, and Select lists it with a 4.5kW heater, so ask the dealer about heat-up time if you sauna in cold winters.
The same prep for both
- Electrical: both need a dedicated 240V/30A hardwired circuit for the heater, plus a 110V/15A plug for the light. Get an electrician’s quote before you order.
- Base: a level pad of concrete, pavers or a solid deck. Plan for the Vienna’s 60" depth or the Salem’s 47".
- Delivery: both ship as kits by freight truck, so plan help for offloading and assembly.

FAQ
Is the Vienna bigger inside than the Salem?
No. Their interior benches are almost the same length (39" vs 39¼"). The Vienna’s extra depth is the outside porch.
Can I upgrade the Vienna’s heater?
Select’s listing says heater upgrades are offered. Confirm the price and the circuit it needs with the dealer before you order.
