Short answer: buy the Auburn if you want the lower price, a longer top bench and lots of natural light, and you have a long, shallow wall to put it on. Buy the Madison if your space is closer to square, you prefer a more enclosed, private room, or you want a third lumber choice (clear cedar). Both are made in the USA, both use a 6kW Harvia KIP heater on a 240V/30A circuit, and both have an upper and a lower bench. Prices and specs come from Select Saunas’ product pages on Oct 13, 2026. Pick the Auburn if…
Image: Select SaunasYou have a long wall but not much depth. At 47" deep it’s 6" shallower than the Madison, and its 65" upper bench is 5" longer, enough for one person to recline with knees bent. A tall side window plus the glass door make it the brighter room. It’s also $255 cheaper and 120 lbs lighter, which helps if it’s going on an upper floor. Skip it if your space is nearly square or you want clear cedar.
Pick the Madison if…
Image: Select SaunasYour space is closer to square (65" × 53"), you want a more enclosed room without a side window, or you want more finish choices: three lumbers including clear cedar, and four door styles. What’s the same on both
- Power: a dedicated 240V/30A hardwired circuit for the 6kW heater, plus a normal 110V/15A outlet for the LED light. Get an electrician’s quote first.
- Floor: both sit on your existing floor. Select lists concrete, ceramic, vinyl, laminate or tile as suitable; carpet isn’t recommended.
- Assembly: pre-assembled wall and roof sections; Select says two people can usually build either in about 6 hours with a cordless drill.
- Heat: Select lists up to 180°F in about an hour for both, with a delay start up to 8 hours. Wi-Fi heaters are an upgrade on both.

FAQ
Is the Madison or Auburn bigger?
By floor area they’re close: the Auburn is 70" × 47" outside and the Madison 65" × 53". The Auburn is wider with a longer top bench; the Madison is deeper.
Do both include a heater?
Yes. Select lists a 6kW Harvia KIP heater and sauna stones with both.
Can I plug either into a regular outlet?
No. The heater is hardwired to a 240V/30A circuit. Only the light plugs into a standard outlet.
