Verdict: the Madison is a strong pick if you want a real traditional sauna inside the house (a basement, garage or spare room) for one to three people, with a hotter upper bench and a cooler lower one. If you need it outdoors or want room for four, look elsewhere. This review is based on Select Saunas’ published specs and price on Oct 9, 2026. We haven’t tested it ourselves.

*Listed on Oct 9, 2026 (Almost Heaven’s own site: $5,160 sale, $6,450 regular). Select Saunas is an Almost Heaven dealer that pays us a commission. Lumber (rustic fir, rustic cedar, clear cedar) and door style are options, so confirm what the listed price includes before you order. Delivery to your door and electrical work aren’t included.
Image: Select SaunasWhat stands out: two bench levels, which barrels can’t give you, so you can choose a hotter or gentler seat. The 60" upper bench is long enough for one person to recline. It runs on a 30-amp circuit, the same as the smaller barrels, and the pre-built panels mean no staves to fit. It’s made in the USA. Tradeoffs: it’s indoor only, so you need floor space near a 240V circuit and a hard floor (concrete, tile, vinyl or laminate; carpet isn’t recommended). Three people is a squeeze. The base heater has dial controls; Wi-Fi is an upgrade.
Will it fit your room?
- Floor: 65" × 53" (about 5'5" × 4'5"), plus space to swing a 24" door.
- Ceiling: the sauna is 78" tall, so a standard 8-foot basement ceiling clears it with room to spare.
- Getting it in: it arrives as panels on a 74" × 40" × 40" pallet. Check stairs and doorways for the largest panel before you order.
- Power: a dedicated 240V/30A hardwired circuit for the heater and an ordinary 110V outlet for the light. Get an electrician’s quote first; it’s usually the biggest extra cost.

Who should buy it
- Anyone with a basement, garage or spare room and no good outdoor spot.
- Cold-climate owners who don’t want to walk outside to the sauna in January.
- One or two regular users who want a traditional sauna with steam and two heat levels.
Who should skip it
- Want it outside: the Almost Heaven Salem (paid link) uses the same 6kW heater and circuit for $610 less. See best 2-person outdoor saunas.
- Four or more people: look at the Almost Heaven Pinnacle (paid link) barrel or the Almost Heaven Huntington (paid link) (our review).
- Can’t run 240V: an infrared sauna may plug into a regular outlet. See traditional vs infrared.
Before you order
Measure the room and the path in, confirm the floor type, and get the 240V/30A circuit quoted. Pick lumber and door at checkout, and budget for a box of sauna stones if the configuration you choose doesn’t include them. If you want to upgrade the heater later, the Harvia KIP heater (paid link) line is sold separately at Select.
