Short answer: buy Plunge Chill (1HP Plus, $1,399 on sale) if you want the most cold water for the money and don’t mind an inflatable tub. Buy The Plunge (Original, $6,790 on sale) if you want a rigid acrylic tub, faster published cooling, app control and a published electrical spec. On paper Plunge Chill actually wins on minimum temperature, capacity and base warranty. Specs come from each brand’s product page on Oct 9, 2026; we haven’t tested either in person, and we don’t make health claims.

Price
The Plunge costs about $5,400 more. Plunge Chill also sells the 1HP Pro (200 gal, two people) for $1,499 and a 1/3 HP Pod kit for $569, so even its biggest kit is under a quarter of the Plunge’s sale price.

Chiller and temperature
Plunge Chill rates its 1 HP chiller to 36°F; Plunge rates the Pro Chiller to 37°F. The bigger difference is speed: Plunge publishes 8–10°F per hour, while Plunge Chill’s own figure works out to about 5°F per hour. If you refill often or plunge in hot weather, faster cooling matters.
Tub and build
This is where the money goes. The Plunge is a rigid acrylic-and-fiberglass tub that looks like furniture and comes with app control. Plunge Chill’s tub is insulated and inflatable: lighter, cheaper and easier to move, but more care-sensitive.
Warranty
Plunge Chill lists 2 years. Plunge lists 1 year, though its fall sale was adding a 2-year extended warranty when we checked. Confirm what’s included on the day you buy.
Image: Plunge ChillColder rated minimum, more water and a longer base warranty for about a fifth of the price. Trade-offs: slower cooling and an inflatable tub.
